It is thought the killer may have been lying in wait for Miss Bowman as she returned home after a night out in Croydon in the early hours of 25 September.
"Now there will be no 21st birthday, no wedding, no first house, no children, no career, just this unimaginable, unfillable emptiness and a naked, throbbing, deep horrible pain that may well fade in time but will never actually go away.
"For someone to perpetrate a crime like this is obviously not of any kind of sound mind and if he has the slightest amount of decency in his body, he would come forward himself if only to prevent another one happening."
