His modus operandi was to stop women, accuse them of bumping him and then threaten them with a weapon. He would then take them to a dark alley where he raped them.
But the prosecution was forced to withdraw two charges of rape and two of robbery because in one case the alleged victim could not be traced, while in another, the alleged victim refused to testify.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges, saying he had had consensual sex with his accusers. He claimed they were prostitutes who turned on him because he paid them too little for services rendered.
However, he failed to explain to the court how, if he had consensual sex with the women, they all had vaginal injuries consistent with having been raped.
State advocate Tom Dicker asked the court to impose the mandatory life sentence for rape as there were no substantial and compelling circumstances that called for a lesser sentence.
