EDMONTON -- Being "fashion forward" to Erica Ehm means more than updating your closet at the firs... FOXY mommas...

The former MuchMusic host, who became the voice of a generation in the early '90s, says a keen fashion sense also means dressing for the changing seasons of your life.

Now a mother of two, Ehm, 44, is no longer the petite rocker girl who could glide effortlessly into a pair of skinny pants -- nor does she want to be.

"I had to get rid of my old clothes and come to terms with the fact that I'd probably never fit into them again," says Ehm, a striking five-foot-five woman with a fit, slim build.

"Go to a store that will make you feel good about yourself. Don't subject yourself to a boutique where the largest size they've got is 28, and you walk out feeling terrible about yourself," says Ehm, who has led a diverse media career in television, radio, film, theatre, journalism and songwriting.

She is this fall's celebrity spokesman for Reitmans, a Canadian women's clothing chain that sells comfortable, stylish and affordable clothing for petite-to-plus sizes.

"Reitmans acknowledges our changing bodies and celebrates them with styles for real women," plugs Ehm, who is also co-creator and host of Yummy Mummy, a parenting show for the music video generation currently airing around the world.

Its spinoff website, yummymummysite.com, is an interactive playground for modern mothers that offers everything from spa getaway contests to sex advice and style tips.

They don't have to relive their youth by squeezing into low-rise jeans that give them muffin tops -- rolls of flesh bulging over a waistband -- to prove they're still sexy.

"Men's wear for women looks hot. A tweed vest with a soft, romantic blouse with a collar, worn with a pair of comfortable jeans with lycra looks great," says Ehm, extolling the virtues of stretch fabric for women with a bit extra around the waist.

Corduroys are also popular this season. Pair jeans or corduroys with a chunky sweater cinched with a thick belt, suggests Ehm. Wear the belt on your waist if you're more petite or drop it to your hips if you're a bit bigger waisted.

"This season's 'in' colours are neutrals, camels, browns, soft pinks and creams, and deep jewel tones like berry, olive, deep blue and black," says Ehm.
