"Lulu accidentally got pregnant by Dillon Quartermaine," says Julie Marie Berman, who plays the recently deflowered teenage daughter of daytime's most famous couple, Luke and Laura. "She's facing a really difficult decision about whether or not she wants to be a teen mother to an unexpected child, and she doesn't have anyone to talk to about her options."
"Every person around her is working their own agenda," says Berman. "It's really hard for her to hear her own voice through what everyone else thinks that she should be doing."
"She confides in everyone as a way for the show to discuss the issue and not just say one thing is right and one thing is wrong," says Berman. "Everyone has given her their opinion. Most people want her to keep the child. The Quartermaines want her to keep the child because they see it as the next heir."
"It wasn't just careless sex," stresses Berman. "She tried to be safe, but using condoms doesn't prevent all pregnancies. It can still happen to anyone."
"He is able to give her the time and space she needs to really think about what she wants to do and follow through with her own decision so that she won't come to blame anyone else afterward."
"She really, really, really needs her mother," says Berman. "She's been going to see her frequently, praying that she's going to give her some kind of flicker, bat of an eye, to give her some kind of answer to what she needs to do."
"She sees her mother, and then Luke comes and finds her there," says Berman. "And she comes to a decision. She knows what she wants to do. So, ultimately, it's the two of them who are with her when she finally makes her decision."
