NIE ONLINE AUCTION Bid on cool stuff and support education in Florida. Items include goodies signed by Dywane Wade, Jason Taylor, Dave Barry and more.

Here are some insights from Cosmo editor Kate White and her new book, How To Set His Thighs On Fire: 86 Red-Hot Lessons on Love, Life, Men, and (Especially) Sex (Warner Books, $21.95).

Sometimes we just know when a guy is lying. He's feeling so sheepish it shows on his face, or else you've heard enough variations on his line to know it lacks authenticity.

On other occasions, though, it's not nearly as apparent. But, according to body language experts, there are subtle indications that a man (or woman) is fibbing.

He rubs the corner of his eye with his finger. Even a good liar can have a hard time looking you in the eye. By fiddling with his eye, he's trying to break eye contact.

He tugs at his ear. Subconsciously the liar uses hand gestures as a distraction. You're forced to notice what he's doing with his hand rather than focus on his words.

He rubs his finger up and down the side of his nose. It's thought that nose rubbing is an unconscious effort to block the untruthful message emanating from the mouth.

Another theory: the liar is uncomfortable and his pulse is pounding. Blood rushes to the face, causing both the nose and the ears to feel itchy.
